Faces of CoWork Me: Thor Bloomfield – MBMR
Thor Bloomfield’s business MBMR has been working out of CoWork Me since September 2018. Having created a multitude of business, it’s hard to believe that Thor still has time to go on a bike ride every morning. We love having Thor and his team here and we can’t wait to see where his next idea will take him.

It is my understanding that you have a few businesses, can you give me a short summary on each
I started off working out of my dad’s office with a company called MTB Body Corporate around 10 years ago. I circulated the rural area of Gippsland and started to grow the business by looking after a few body corporates. In my first year, the total profit earned was $2,750.
The following year I took on some staff to help grow MTB. This enabled me to look around at what other companies were providing to buildings. I found that I could provide a better service by using my own contractors.
Where do you get your ideas from?
People watching. I like to go into the city and stand at a busy intersection and see how many people are walking across the road whilst being on their phone.
I try to stay in front of the market and I’m constantly looking out for the best way to manage a building that creates simplicity, better security, a better user experience and a way to future proof the building. I believe that that if your business isn’t easily accessible through a device, it won’t last.
Why co-working?
We recently sold our office in Richmond as its layout was not providing what we needed to expand. We started looking at other offices but it was going to be a massive cost, which meant that we needed to find a space that our team was able to work out of collaboratively. CoWork Me turned out to be the best fit for us.
What is your favourite thing about CoWork Me?
The culture. My team has been forced to socialise with different people and network. Which in turn has helped them grow, as they are blossoming in this environment Since working here, my team has been able to move to the next level professionally.
What is the hardest thing about being a business owner?
The hardest part is definitely being switched on 24/7. I would love to be able to just sit and relax but you know, sometimes you just have to keep going. Running a business is like having a child, no one tells you what to do because it just keeps evolving.

Who inspires you?
I get inspired by seeing the potential in everything around me. However, Ben who works for me is definitely someone that inspires me due to his discipline. I need more discipline (laughs).
How do you unwind?
At the moment I have been watching TV whilst surfing Gumtree or Ebay. I also like to make Star Wars Lego. I find that puzzles help make my mind relax which then makes it easier to fall asleep at night.
Biggest tip for someone starting their own business?
Ask people for as much advice as you can.
